The Zolochiv Castle was built in 1634 – 1636 by John III Sobieski, the king of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth. A moat with a bridge form the approach to the castle. The king wanted an elegant, decorative look and built the “small” Chinese palace for his wife, which is now a museum of oriental art. First-time visitors think the Chinese pavilion is the castle. The 2-story castle forms the focal point of a large courtyard and gardens. An interior museum exposition has art, sculpture, and historical portraits.
The Olesko Castle was built in 1327 by the king of Galicia and became a Crown Land of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The rich and colorful interior are always on view. Olesko Castle houses a museum collectionof paintings, historic portraits, and sculptures by the renown Johann Pinzel. A church, a Capuchin monastery, and beautiful sculpture gardens are poised in front of the castle. An upper exterior gallery overlooks the suburban surrounds.
At 399 meters above sea level overlooking the Styr River valley, the castle is on view from great distances. A church and a Capuchin monastery with a beautiful garden are in front of the castle. Legend says that after the last owner, Wacław Rzewuski locked his wife in the castle until she died, her white ghost continues to haunt, thus the name The White Woman Castle. The film Ghostbusters was shot there, and film producers speak about anomalous sounds and strange images recorded during shooting.
The Musketeer Castle was built over a pond in 1427 by the noble Polish Swirski family. The Renaissance-style castle was built around a central courtyard. The main entrance is a bridge over a moat. A Renaissance-style church nearby continues to serve the Greek Catholic public. The Castle appeared in the film The Three Musketeers, based on the classic by Alexandre Dumas. The ghost of a young girl, thrown into the well to her death, is said to haunt the castle to this day.
