A prestigious European award in the field of energy is the support of authorities in the implementation of effective energy and climate policy measures, a tool for the implementation of the Covenant of Mayors.
The award provides access to international grant funds, allowing attracting more donors and potential investors.
In September 2022, an international independent external audit was conducted in Lviv in accordance with the requirements of the European Energy Award. After passing the audit, Lviv received 60.1% (the minimum required score is 50%) and became the largest Ukrainian city to win such a prestigious award.
After that the city adopted the Memorandum between the Association “Energy Cities of Ukraine” and the Lviv City Council, a working group was created to implement the European Energy Award in Ukraine. Also Lviv accepted for the program of actions of the European Energy Award of Lviv MTG for 2021-2025.
