Culture is mostly perceived as the arts. Art can entertain, move us to submission, or drive us away. In so doing, it puts us in touch with our emotions, it puts us in touch with ourselves. Culture is also about communities of people and the customs and attitudes reflected by those communities. Culture teaches and inspires.

With every movement of my hand, I must, like a magician, hold everyone’s attention on the tip of my baton, I must create such interpretations that will be able to transfer people 200-300 years back in time.

Lviv Opera and Ballet

Opera and ballet enthusiasts in Lviv and abroad attend the year-long repertoire of offerings. These include all the well-known operas and ballet favorites, including some originals. Productions of favorites like Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, Don Quixote, Gissell, and others are beautifully danced, magical, and evocative. The Lviv Opera has a local and international following among visitors from Germany and the UK.
Their 2021 line-up includes Othello, Toska, Cinderella and others.

The Lviv Philharmonic

The Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine is one of the largest in Ukraine. It has a year-long repertoire of classical and popular music. The Lviv Philharmonic is a regular participant in international festivals, such as the International Festival of Musical Art “Virtuosos”, the International Festival of Contemporary Music “Contrasts,” and has toured many countries around the world. During the past several seasons they have completed highly-acclaimed recordings for major international labels including Naxos and Brilliant Classics.

Lviv Organ Hall

Lviv House of Organ and Chamber Music is a concert hall located in the 17th-century church of St. Mary Magdalene, which can accommodate an audience of 300 people. The Organ Hall was destroyed and rebuilt many times over the years. The organ was ordered from Austrian firm Gebrüder Rieger in 1932 and installed in 1936. It is one of the largest in Eastern Europe and the largest in Ukraine. Organ Hall is a bright and beautiful place to visit, with well-curated art exhibitions and opportunities to have coffee and tea with the staff.

The Johann Pinzel Museum

This museum presents 32 sculptures of the world-renown 18th century Lvivian sculptor Johann Georg Pinzel. Johann Georg Pinzel was a mysterious baroque sculptor of the 18th century, often compared to the great Gian Lorenzo Bernini and even to Michelangelo Buonarroti.
Pinzel has intrigued audiences and art historians with his unique technique and original interpretation of baroque art. Many of these sculptures are bronze and especially radiant in interior settings.
